Dorothy M. Buckingham, 90, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Per Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 27, 1930, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Lela (Miller) Kendall. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1948. On June 7, 1952, in Ottumwa, she was united in marriage to Glenn Buckingham. He passed away on Oct. 8, 1989. Dorothy was baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses in 1956. She worked as a telephone operator, for North Hy-Vee and Nu-Life Nutrition, all in Ottumwa, and for Whole Health Natural Foods in Marion, throughout her years. Dorothy also baked wedding cakes from her home over the years. She was an amazing cook, loved to bake and was a very dedicated wife and mother.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two sons, Terry Buckingham of Ottumwa and Stephen Buckingham of Waukee, Iowa; two daughters, Lisa Buckingham of Des Moines, Iowa, and Lori (Dale) Edaburn of Marion; three grandchildren, Whitney Edaburn, Chelsea (Andrew) McCallum, and Alex Buckingham; one brother, Edward "Gene" (Betty) Kendall of Hiawatha; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; sons, Gary Buckingham and Jeffrey Buckingham in infancy; sister, Nada Cox; and brother, John Kendall.
