Dorothy C. Linnell, 92, of Solon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Mass
of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon.
Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery - Nolan Settlement. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at the church. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born Jan. 16, 1926, in rural Cedar County, the daughter of John and Cecilia (Moravek) Kessler. Dorothy and Charles were proprietors of several restaurants and lounges in the Iowa City and surrounding areas.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Darlene Klouda; her brother, Clarence Kessler; her sons, Pat and Andrew (Sarah); daughter, Doreen (Terry) Skilling; daughter-in-law, Susan Linnell; her grandchildren, Charles, Bryan, Joshua, Ben, Justin, Stephanie, Robert, Jacob and Abbie; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles; brothers, Eugene and Melvin (Doris) Kessler; sons, Michael and Jack Linnell; three infant children, Michael, Shirley and John; a great-grandson, Rylan Skilling; her brother-in-law, Don Klouda; and her sister-in-law, Cease Kessler.
