Dorothy Lange, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at the First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 Friday at the church. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for Dorothy and her family. Surviving are four children, Ronald (Lynda) Lange, East Peoria, Ill., Dennis (Cher) Lange, Haltom City, Texas, Karen (Jim) Anderson of Monticello and Kevin (Shelley) Lange of Anamosa; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale in 2006; a sister, Betty Kluck; and two brothers, William and Ed Griffith.
Dorothy Mae Griffith was born Feb. 12, 1928, at Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Fred and Rachel Rigby, Griffith. She graduated from the Monticello Community Schools in 1946. Dorothy was employed at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa. Dorothy Griffith and Dale Lange were married Dec. 17, 1947, at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Monticello. Dorothy was a homemaker and also was a babysitter for several families. She would clean part-time at the Monticello Motel as well.
Dorothy loved to crochet, making granny square afghans and padded hanger covers. She was a 50+ year member of the Royal Neighbors.
