Dorothy J. Janssen, 92 of Monticello, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa, Iowa.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monticello, where funeral services will commence at 11 a.m., with burial in Scotch Grove Cemetery. Pastor Caleb Schewe will officiate.
Dorothy was born July 13, 1929, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of William and Helen (Boots) Marsh. She married Edward G. Janssen on June 29, 1947, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Monticello. They were married 52 years and 27 days.
Dorothy was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Monticello. Ed and Dorothy lived in Morley, Castle Grove, Prairieburg and settled in at their farm in Scotch Grove in 1960, where they lived until 2000.
Survivors include her six children, Jim (Trish) Janssen of Scotch Grove, Linda ( Tom) Schmit of Monticello, Susan ( Tom) Bohlken of Scotch Grove, Pat Findley of Frederick, Colo., Bill (Carol) Janssen of Scotch Grove and Connie (Creighton) Randolph of Monticello; 16 grandchildren, Sean Janssen, Stacy Thies, Todd, Ryan, Josh, Megan Schmit, Chad Bohlken, Miranda Breeden, Karlyn Cameron, Matt Findley, Sara Mauro, Andrea, Alan Janssen, Lindsay Ryan, Ben and Michael Randolph; 33 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marvin Marsh, Kenneth Marsh and Lynn Starks; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Koenig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on June 2, 2000; her parents; her parents-in-law; a son-in-law, Dave Findley; a grandson, Jordan Powers; siblings, Paul (Agnes) Marsh, Adelia "Red" Marsh Eilers, Bill (Annabelle) Marsh, Helen (Philip) Schneider, Robert (Nancy) Marsh and Richard Marsh; and in-laws, John (Dolly) Janssen Jr., Agneta (Vic) Miller, Art (Helen) Janssen, Joan Marsh and Donald Starks.
