Dorothy Ann Hilby, 79, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at Immaculate Conception Church, Masonville. Per Dorothy's request, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Dorothy was born March 1, 1936, in Earlville, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Magdaline (Eike) Sperfslage. Dorothy married Ronald "Pete" Hilby on June 24, 1958, in Earlville. Together they farmed near Masonville, where she was a homemaker, mother and farm wife. She enjoyed raising poultry, gardening, caring for the lawn, going on shopping trips and out to eat. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Masonville.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, Randy Hilby of Masonville, Gary (Linda) Hilby of Manchester and Tim Hilby of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Mitchell, Nicholas, Jessie, Georgie and Lori Hilby; and siblings, Francis (Joan) Sperfslage of Edgewood, Lawrence (Alice) Sperfslage of Strawberry Point, Eugene (Janet) Sperfslage of Marion, Norbert (Sharon) Sperfslage of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Lucy) Sperfslage of Central City, Tom (Lou) Sperfslage of Central City and Viola (Clifford) Bentley of Shueyville.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husband; her parents; and brothers, Roy Sperfslage, Richard Sperfslage and Harold Sperfslage.
