Dorothy E. Haverkamp, 88, of Iowa City, died Monday, April 18, 2016, at the Mercy Hospice Care Unit in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A Catholic Daughter's rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Gary Beckman will officiate. Respecting Dorothy's wishes, her body will be deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the Mercy Hospice Care Unit.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; her children, Anne Croker (Jim) of Iowa City, and their children, Jenny, Lisa (Chris) Spiek, Jim and Andy; John Brejcha (Kay) of Johnstown, Colo., and their children, Kelly (Gabe) Thexton and Matt (Rebecca); Mike Haverkamp (Lisa) of Iowa City, and their children, Rowan and Laurel; Tom Haverkamp (Kim) and their children, Joe (Kristen) and Dan (Lisa); and Jim Haverkamp (Joyce) of Durham, N.C., and their daughter Sofia; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Shay of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Martha Haverkamp of Remsen and Mary Masuen (Vincent) of LeMars; and many nieces and nephews.
