Dorothy Ann Halupnik, 96, of Iowa City, formerly of Traer, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Traer United Methodist Church, where visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to service time. Burial: Buckingham Cemetery.
She was born July 21, 1921, in Dysart, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Schmidt) Pippert. She graduated from Dysart High School in 1938. On Dec. 28, 1939, Dorothy was united in marriage to Stanley Halupnik at the Evangelical Church in Dysart. Dorothy was a homemaker and loved to cook, sing, entertain, golf (she had two holes-in-one) and spend winters in Arizona.
She was a member of Traer United Methodist Church, president of the Women's Society for two years, member of the Bible study group and belonged to the Iowana Club.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Wayne; grandson, David; daughter-in-law, Corrine Halupnik Elston; sisters, Frances Degner, Marie Bendull, Violetta Schuchart and Kathryn Neymeyer; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Halupnik.
She is survived by a son, Ben (Patty Knebel) Halupnik of Iowa City; grandchildren, Shele (Tom) Anderson, Dirk (Katherine) Halupnik, Mark (Jennifer) Halupnik and Jim Halupnik; great-grandchildren, Megan (Robert) Secor, Benjamin Trepp and Jackson, Lane, Austin, Grace and Cole Halupnik; a great-great- granddaughter, Cora Secor; and a brother, Howard Pippert of Reinbeck.
