Dorothy Goettsch, 90, of Calamus, Iowa, passed away early Friday, October 25, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the church. Burial following in the church cemetery.
Dorothy Jean Green was born December 3, 1934, in rural Calamus, Iowa, to Jacob and Helen (Burke) Green. She graduated from Calamus Consolidated School in 1953. She married Dwain Goettsch on June 13, 1953, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. The couple settled in Calamus, where they raised their family of 6 children. Dorothy retired from American Mutual Insurance in 1994. Dwain preceded her in death in 2023.
Dorothy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound. She served as secretary of Grand Mound Consolidated School P.T.A., treasurer of Calamus Little League, and was a charter member of Wapsi Oaks Country Club. Dorothy loved playing golf and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Surviving are her children, Denise Goettsch, Diane (Allen) Smith, Dodie (Jeff) Jacobi, Doreen (Daryl) Henning, Dawn (Albert) Green, Douglas (Sarah) Goettsch; 18 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucie Crawley; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Kay (Lyle) Goettsch, Eileen (Dale) Kimbel, Dan (Cynthia) Green, and an infant sister, Carol Ann.
Memorials are suggested to the Calamus Fire Department and the Calamus Little League.
