Dorothy Ann Fisher, 82, of Swisher, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the Solon Care Center. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Shueyville United Methodist Church, located at 1195 Steeple Lane NE, Swisher. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling the arrangements.

Dorothy was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Colesburg, the daughter of Ted E. and Augusta (Neuhring) Dittmer. She graduated from Colesburg High School and St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1954. Dorothy was united in marriage to William A. Fisher on Nov. 27, 1959, at Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy worked as an OB nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at Mercy Medical Center, until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Beth (Lowell) Cooke of Billings, Mont., Aaron (Sue) Fisher of Swisher and Amy Palmquist of Northfield, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Mick) Goff, Erin Cooke, Morgan, Austin and Jake Fisher and Ben and Ella Palmquist; two great-grandsons, Brock and Brayden Goff; siblings, Martin (Kathy) Dittmer of Iowa Falls, Mary Brobst of California, Alice Luetjen of Oregon, Ruth (Lyle) Hageman of Virginia, John (Elaine) Dittmer, Jean (Paul) Larson, both of North Carolina, and Jane Vaughan of California; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Virginia Sprague, Wilma Wessel and Mae Gallagher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the Shueyville United Methodist Church and/or to Camp Courageous in her name.
