Dorothy E. Eimen, 92, of Cedar Rapids, was called home by Jesus on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, to be with her beloved husband and loving family. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. James United Methodist Church by Pastor Carol Sundberg. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Bill) Reddick of Iowa City and Donna (Michael) Yoder of Cedar Rapids; and one grandson, William Reddick of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar; daughter, Josephine; and three brothers, Charles, Floyd and Odell.
Dorothy Eleanor was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Edward and Emma Thompson Schultz. She married Omar Joseph Eimen on Feb. 16, 1957. Dorothy was a great housewife, mother, friend and neighbor, and spent much of her time taking care of her family and dear friends throughout the years. No one was a stranger to Dorothy.
Dorothy enjoyed volunteering in many different ways, including at the Olivet Mission, St. James United Methodist Church, helping with bingo at a nursing home, making quilts and packing backpacks for children. She loved gardening, canning, baking, and watching all kinds of sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.
