Dorothy 'Dottie' Richardson
DOROTHY "DOTTIE" MAE (READ) RICHARDSON 5/12/1928 10/30/2017 Cedar Rapids Dottie lost her battle for life due to complications from a recent fall in Blackduck, Minn., at the age of 89. She was born in Winterset, Iowa, along with a brother, Jim; and sister. Betty. After the death of her parents at a young age, she and her sister were raised by her brother, Jim, in Monticello, Iowa. She later was married to George Richardson. She went into nurse's training and worked at the Monticello hospital. Dottie and George had sons, Terry and Jerry. Dottie later was divorced and moved to Cedar Rapids. She worked for the next 30-plus years for Dr. John A. Puk until her retirement. She had many interests. She became a second degree black belt at Master Woo Jin Jung Taekwondo Academy. Her big love was dance. She won many competitions with her Arthur Murray Dance troupe. She did several medical missions to countries such as Haiti and Cuba. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim; and son, Jerry. Survivors include her son, Terry (Kathy) Richardson; her daughter-in-law, Barbara (Craig Hopkins) Richardson; grandchildren, Todd (Libby), Brett (Lisa), Sam, Sara, Lucas, Michael and Jennifer; and many great-grandchildren. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. Her final resting place will be at Cedar Memorial Park.
