Dorothy Dostal, 94, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Nov. 25, 2021. at the Oldorf Hospice House. Per Dorothy's wishes, there will be no services held.
Dorothy Marie Tomash was born Oct. 11, 1927, in rural Johnson county, the daughter of Joe and Emma (Netolicky) Tomash. Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl Nissen on June 4, 1955. She retired from Cryovac in 1990. She was an excellent baker and cook. Dorothy will always be remembered for her amazing kolaches and pies. She also loved gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family and dog Wrigley.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Pickart; son, Randy (Pamela) Nissen; four grandchildren, Nick (Allison) Nissen, Nicole (Jesse) Colehour, Michael (Tammy) Pickart and Emily Pickart; seven great-grandchildren, Noah and Lillie Pickart, Kinley, Evelyn and Madelyn Nissen, Brennan and Bryleigh Colehour; two sisters, Darlene Plattenberger and Janet Cerveny; and one sister-in-law, Janice Tomash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; two brothers, Elmer and Robert Tomash; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Cerveny and Richard Plattenberger; and a son-in-law, John Pickart.
