Dorothy M. Dlouhy, 82, died peacefully Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville. Memorial services will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with the Rev. Carol Potter officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Dorothy was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Iowa City, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Frauenholtz) Fuhrmeister. She attended Newport No. 5 and University High School. On Feb. 8, 1950, Dorothy married Edwin Dlouhy in Iowa City. He preceded her in death July 22, 2007. She was employed at Procter and Gamble for over 31 years, retiring in 1990. Before that she was employed at Moore Business Forms.
Dorothy and Ed enjoyed many years of camping and boating. She liked western movies, listening to country music and NASCAR. Most important to Dorothy was her family.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debra (Nick) Chelf and Lori (Kirk) Weitzell, both of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Brian Chelf, Erin and Emily Weitzell; her sisters, Evelyn Oaks of Iowa City and Irene (George) Roberts of Shepherd, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Viola Kanewske.
The family greatly extends their appreciation to the caring staff of Iowa City Hospice.
