DOROTHY JANE BESCO
Alpine, Texas
Dorothy Jane Besco, "Jane," of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Alpine, Texas, passed away July 26, 2018, in Alpine following a brief illness and stroke. Jane was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Burton Rudolph Hynden and Fern Irene
Cox Hynden. She was 86 years old.
Jane attended Graceland College and graduated from the University of Iowa. She was a loving mother to her three children, Karen, Robert and Richard. Her careers ranged from teacher and librarian, to working for U.S. Customs in the Port of Los Angeles, to the job she retired from in the career guidance office at Harbor Junior College.
Jane enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. She completed the L.A. Times crossword puzzle daily and loved playing slot machines when she had the chance. She made her home in southern California for more than 57 years before recently moving to Texas to live with her daughter.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Fern Hynden; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Hynden; and son-in-law, Scott Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Williams of Alpine, Texas; sons, Robert Besco of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Richard Besco of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; brother, James Hynden; sister, Kathryn Hynden Walch (Jim), both of Fort Myers, Fla.; granddaughters, Jessica Williams Baldeschwiler (Kyle) and Mariah Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane's wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), National Alliance on Mental Illness (nami.org), or a charity of your choice.
