Dorotha "Dottie" P. O'Brien, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Private family services will be held.
Dottie was born on June 20, 1930, in Lewisburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Pauline Adkins (Wilson) O'Brien. She was a retired educator who taught at Bryan High School in Bryan, Ohio, Elyria High School in Elyria, Ohio, Morehead State College in Morehead, Ky., Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and finally Newark Public Schools, retiring from Cherry Valley Elementary in Newark, Ohio. Dottie was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a lifelong member of Ohio Retired Teachers Society, and a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Newark.
Survivors include her niece; a grand-niece; grand-nephews; and dear a friend, Arlene Beman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shelia Greek; and a brother, Robert W. O'Brien.
