Doris Patschke, 100, of Marion, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids, with Celebrant Jim Parton officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Doris Blinks, the daughter of Frank and Sarah Blinks, was born Feb. 13, 1914, and grew up on a farm south of Lisbon, Iowa. She married Donald Patschke on March 3, 1935. Together they operated a fruit and vegetable farm northeast of Marion for many years.
Survivors include her daughters, Luella Huxley of Aurora, Colo., Donna Malake (Robert) of Davenport, Arlene Greene (Terry) of Sedona, Ariz., and Ruth Fisher (David) of Fairfax; sons, Donald Patschke (Jan) of Marion and George Patschke (Barbara) of Hiawatha; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Donald, died Oct. 9, 1981. Also preceding her in death were an infant daughter and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doris' name may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha or Meals on Wheels.
