Doris Mary (Wicke) Jacobs, 90, of Cedar Rapids, transitioned to eternal life on Sunday, October 13, 2024. The family had a private service on Thursday, October 24 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Those who attended were her husband, daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris was born on December 7, 1933, to Dorothy (Walter) Wicke and Leo J. Wicke in Cedar Rapids. She married the love of her life, James E. Jacobs on May 31, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, IA. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past year which meant so much to them. Jim said it was the best 70 years of his life! Her life and love continues on through her family with her husband Jim, her three daughters, Julie Lahane, Janice (Matt) Reid, and Sandy (Bob) Martin. Doris had 10 beautiful grandchildren, 14 very special great-grandchildren, and her brother Bob (Peg) Wicke.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Dwight (Kay) Wicke, Elaine (Chic) Evans, and Dale (Marilyn) Wicke.
She worked at various jobs throughout her life including Me-Too in Cedar Rapids with her family, also Stouffers and Collins Plaza where she worked with many of her dear friends.
Doris truly loved her family and was so proud of each and every one of them. Family was everything to her and she cherished every moment with them all.
She will be dearly missed, and her family feels so blessed to have had her as a mom, grandma, and loving wife to Jim. We thank you for all your love and prayers for our family.
