Doris Kula, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Jones Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where a parish vigil service will be at 3:30 p.m.

Surviving are nine children, David (Jeanette) Kula of Springville, Marlene (Dallas) Paustian and Charlene (Ron) Knutsen, both of Anamosa, Mavis (Tom) Engler of Worthington, Cathleen Kula of Cedar Rapids, Denise Kula and Dan (Lori) Kula, both of Anamosa, Leanna (Andy) Manternach of Monticello and Willeen (Rick) Engelken of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Bunting of Hopkinton, Gloria Pflaughaupt of Central City and Eunice Marquis of Camanche; and two brothers, Chuck (Jackie) Betzer of Wisconsin and Russell Betzer of Anamosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin, in 1971; a brother, Dean; and a sister, Betty Lou.
Doris Eleanor Betzer was born April 13, 1926, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Willis and Lucille McGovern Betzer. Doris attended Anamosa Community Schools. She later worked at Reliance Shirt Factory. Doris married Marvin Kula on April 27, 1943, in Stone City. Doris was employed at Rockwell Collins both in Anamosa and Cedar Rapids. She retired in 1989.
Doris was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved to garden both flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
