Doris JoAnn Ferrie, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Jan. 21, 2019, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A Memorial Mass and inurnment will be held at a later date. Doris had deeded her body to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.
JoAnn was born on March 31, 1931, in Olin, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Doris (Strickell) Hartwig. She was united in marriage to Jerome "Jerry" Ferrie on May 17, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2016.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Joseph (Tami) Frazier of Coggon, Iowa; daughter, Jerilyn (Jerry) Scott of Marion; sons, Jeffrey (April) Ferrie of Cedar Rapids and John Ferrie of Texas; nine grandchildren, Lyndsey, Brittany (Brad), Jacob, Morgan, Madeline, Danielle (Hykim), Jamie (Alicia), Zachary (Kelly) and Corey; and five great-grandchildren, Makiyla, Brooklyn, Amiya, Carson William and Charles; two sisters, June (John) Miller of Cedar Rapids and Cathie McConchie of Colorado; and two brothers, Jim (Corrine) Hartwig of Arizona and Charles (Carol) Hartwig of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in JoAnn's name may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
