Doris J. (Parbs) Kubik, 84, of Central City, Iowa, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa.
Doris was born Sept. 3, 1934, in rural Center Point, Iowa, the daughter of Leland and Ethel (Carman) Parbs. She married Gerald Kubik on Aug. 26, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Doris worked at Square D on the assembly line for 11 years and also loved being a homemaker. She liked quilting and crafts. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
Doris is survived by her husband, Jerry Kubik of Central City; children, Susan (Ray) Holder of Marion, Jerry J. (Karla) Kubik of Cedar Rapids, and Diana Neal of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Seth (Kara), Zachary (Callie), Tyler and Jecynda (Dan); six great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren expected in the spring; siblings, Frances (Keith) Wingfield of Cedar Rapids, Everette Parbs of Council Bluffs, and Gwen (Brian) Heck of Shellsburg; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Parbs of Center Point, Grace Kubik of Center Point, Kay Kubik and Bonnie Kubik, both of Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Ethel Parbs; daughter, Debra "Deb" Geater; great-grandson, Tanner Skelton; siblings, Ivan Parbs, Iva McMullin and Don Parbs; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Parbs, Linda Parbs, Gladys Zavodsky and Martha Zeadow; brothers-in-law, Mac McMullin, Ray, Stan and Ed Kubik, Max Zeadow and Jerry Zavodsky.
