Doris N. Holub, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by her family following a short illness. Memorial Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church by the Rev. Dennis Juhl. Inurnment: Czech National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Survivors include her children, Glenn of Tucson, Ariz., Gary of Cedar Rapids and Laurie (Wayne) Walkner of Solon; grandchildren, Nathan Walkner of Paducah, Kent., Taylor Walkner of Solon and Maddy Walkner of Iowa City; brothers, Bill (Fatima) Hutchings of Cedar Rapids, Frank (Carol) Hutchings of Laguana Neguel, Calif., and Edward (Lyla) Hutchings of Lake Delton, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Theodore L. Holub, her parents and nephew, Scott Hutchings, precede her in death.
Doris Nellie was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of William E. and Josephine M. Naso Hutchings. She married Theodore L. Holub on July 3, 1947, in Cedar Rapids at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He died in 1999. She was a dental technician at Paul Jones Dental Lab in Cedar Rapids for many years. Doris enjoyed camping, fishing, and reading, but most importantly loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family wishes to thank West Ridge Care Center and Solon Nursing Care Center for the compassionate and loving care of their mother.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association in her name.
