Doris Lucille Harness, 96, passed away Aug. 12, 2015, at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Doris was the daughter of Albert and Bertha Boots. She was united in marriage to Charles Harness in 1938, and to this union, three children were born. Charles and Doris farmed for 38 years before retiring to Anamosa in 1976. Following Charles' death in 1990, Doris moved back to Mechanicsville.
Doris is survived by her son, Larry (Christina) Harness, Anamosa; and her daughter, Kathy (Paul) Seitz, Mechanicsville. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Sievers, Kentucky, Philip Sievers, North Dakota, Christine (Arturo) Cortez, New Mexico, Doris (Richard) Beeson, Olin, Theresa (Frank) Ross, Greeley, Annette Maschmann, Clarence, and Alissa (Dustin) McAtee, Stanwood; stepgrand-children, Pam (Jeff) Stallman, Walford, and Kim (Kelly) Denniston, Monticello; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her daughter, Linda; her brother, Everett Boots; and her sisters, Pauline Gamble, Geraldine Meineke, Alberta Fairley and Shirley Borntrager.
It was Doris' wish there be no visitation and her body be cremated. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent in Doris' name to Camp Courageous of Iowa, the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
