Doris E. Yahnke, 87, of Marion, Iowa, died Monday, April 3, 2023. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is being planned at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion is assisting the family.
Doris was born March 17, 1936, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Hannah (Doden) Brockens. She graduated from Monticello High School. Doris was united in marriage to Gary Lynn Yahnke on Sept. 14, 1957, in Monticello. In her earlier years, she worked as a bank teller and later owned and operated The Rainbow Supper Club in Anamosa, Iowa. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Sherri (Gary) Chalstrom of Marion, Kim (Curtis West) Yahnke-West of Hopkins, Minn., and Bradley Yahnke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandson, Spencer Chalstrom; sister, Linda (Gary) Smith of Marengo, Iowa; and a host of extended family members including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Yahnke; and one sister, Velma Zumbach.
