Doris Bacher, 89, passed away on January 30, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha. Memorial Service and Visitation is pending. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery.
Doris was born October 23, 1934, in Newton, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Edna (Ahrens) Depperman. She married William “Bill” Bacher on June 16, 1956, in Burlington, Iowa. They lived in Chicago for 11 years before moving to Mount Vernon in 1967.
She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, reading, camping, baking, watching Lawrence Welk, traveling to National Parks with her husband Bill, hosting family dinners, helping Bill with home improvements, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She volunteered for Cub Scouts, Campfire, a teacher’s assistant, and as a Sunday School teacher for her church, United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Donna) Bacher, Cheryl (Todd) Roy, Cathy (Steve) Phillips, and Sue (Fred) Hucke; grandchildren, Deb Vogel, Denise (Chad) Kilgore, Bill Bacher, Laurie (Michael) Moellers, Coren Hucke, Adam Roy, Nik Hucke, and Sarah Roy; and great-grandchildren, Charisma, Aria, Aurora, Ben, Evie, and Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William; and siblings, Bill Depperman and Mary Brindza.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lisbon-Mount Vernon Ambulance.
The family extends a Thank-You to the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon for the excellent care for Doris.
