Doris A. Loehr, 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in her home surrounded by her family. There will be no funeral services or viewing, but there will be a Celebration of Life scheduled from 5 to
7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa, Iowa.
Food will be provided.
Doris was born on Aug. 19, 1939, in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Norman B. and Irene (Joslin) Seeley. Doris attended school in Stone City, Iowa. She then married James Loehr on Nov. 1, 1954, in Anamosa, Iowa. She lived in Morley, Iowa, and then moved to Hale in 1962. They were married for 60 years before James passed away. Doris loved the Lord and her church family. She spent her life devoted to her children and grandchildren. In her youth, she enjoyed hunting and trapping. She attended The Assembly of God in Oxford Junction, and Foursquare Church in Cedar Rapids and taught Children's Church at both places. She then attended the Foursquare Church in Anamosa. She also played her Hawaiian guitar and sang with the Comforters Ministry at local nursing homes, and ministered at the Anamosa State Penitentiary with her family. Her favorite food was broasted chicken and ice cream bars. She will be remembered for her love of garage sales, creating and donating quilts, helping and praying for others, her kind heart, her sense of humor and her beautiful red hair.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.
She is survived by her children, Monica Loehr of Parma, Ohio, Carol Schminkey of Hale, Iowa, Nathan (Suzanne) Loehr of Anamosa, Iowa, Michael (Betsy) Loehr of Donahue, Iowa, Matthew (Pam) Loehr of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Bryan (Jodi) Loehr of DeKalb, Ill. Doris had 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
