Dopp, Delwyn D.
Delwyn D. Dopp, 75, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Aurora, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 24, 2011, in Billings. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the United Methodist Church in Aurora, with the Rev. John C. Brockschinck officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Delwyn Dale Dopp was born Dec. 17, 1935, at the family home in Lamont, Iowa, the son of Earl LeRoy and Deleva Ardus (Cook) Dopp. He graduated from Lamont High School in 1953. While in high school he played basketball and was known as “The Big Gun.” He married Barbara Irene Chapman on May 27, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Arlington, Iowa. Del was a truck driver and later owned and operated Del's Feed and Supply in Aurora for many years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora. In 2005, Del and Barbara moved to Billings, Mont., where they attended Hope Methodist Church. Del enjoyed his family, his grandchildren, his friends and many years of fishing on the Mississippi River.
Del is survived by his wife, Barbara Dopp of Billings, Mont.; children, Dave Dopp of Oelwein, Lori (Jamie) Kemp of Billings, Mont., Sheri (Ed) Fasig of Dallas Center, and Randel (Michelle) Dopp of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (Leone) Dopp of Oelwein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dale Dopp.
“ Del will forever be in our hearts.”
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
