Donovan, Patricia Ann

Patricia Ann Donovan, 81, formerly of Coralville, went to be with the Lord Feb. 19, 2011. According to the wishes of Patricia, Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service will take care of arrangements. Her wishes are to be cremated and there will be a private service at a later date.

Pat was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Hills, Iowa, the daughter of William and Edith (Michel) Droll. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School and also attended Irish Businesses School.

Pat worked at many places while in high school, including the telephone office. She married Allen L. Donovan on May 3, 1949, at Patrick's Church. They farmed for many years. Later Pat worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the Radiology Department as a medical secretary.

Pat loved the Hawks and attended many games and also loved to travel and went on many cruises. She loved playing games with the little ones and making cookies and candy.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah “Deb” and Theresa, both of Iowa City; one son, William “Bill” of Ainsworth; a sister, Anita Bender of Iowa City; four grandchildren, Ryan Giannini, Heidi Schmitt and Heather and Blake Donovan of Ainsworth; and two nephews, Stephen and Thomas Bender.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; her parents; nephew; brother-in-law; son-in-law; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
