Donohoe, Marvel A.
Marvel A. Donohoe, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at the church two hours before the service. Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Marvel is survived by her children, Claudia (Grier) Mills of Mechanicsville, Va. and John Donohoe of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Jayme (Drew) Mills Klammer of Glen Allen, Va. and their children, Karsyn and Keegan; and a brother, Bill (Marlene) Russell of Traer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude; and siblings, Vera Sanders, Marion Olson, Anne Prohaska and Dale, Jack, Don and Earl Russell.
Marvel was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Fairfax, to John and Emily Russell. She married Claude Donohoe in Cedar Rapids on June 28, 1944. He died in 2001. Marvel loved to read, do crossword puzzles and was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the University of Iowa Women's basketball team.
