Donohoe, Lynette Ellen Glandorf
Lynette Ellen Glandorf Donohoe was born May 1, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Derald and June (Woodrum) Glandorf. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1980 and attended Kirkwood Community College, receiving an associate of arts degree. She was employed as an administrative assistant for various offices which led to her career at Seabury and Smith for nearly 10 years before becoming self-employed.
On August 17, 1991, she married Patrick J. Donohoe at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Holbrook. They established their home in the rural Parnell area and began their family. Together they owned and operated Donohoe Drywall Inc.
Lynette participated in basketball and softball in high school and also enjoyed scrapbooking and family vacations. What she loved most was being a loving wife and mother, as well as creating a beautiful home for her family. She was actively involved in all of her kids' activities from teaching religion, coaching Little League and attending her sons' athletic competitions and 4-H events.
Being a well-respected member of the community, Lynette was known to be a kind, humble and giving person. Over the past years she has been an avid participant and leader in bringing a team to the annual “Especially for You” Breast Cancer Walk in Cedar Rapids.
Lynette is survived by her husband, Patrick; three sons, Jarett, Jacob and Justin, all at home; her parents, Gerald and June Glandorf of Williamsburg; two brothers, Steve (Liisa) Glandorf of Georgetown, Texas, and Todd (Teresa) Glandorf, Round Rock, Texas; one sister, Kimberly (Mike) Jackson of Grandview, Texas; one brother-in-law, Bill Donohoe of Holbrook; and five sisters-in-law, Peg (Dwight) Gildemeister of Williamsburg, Jerlynn (Pat) O'Brien of Parnell, Mary Donohoe of Holbrook, Deb Donohoe Thompson (Paul) of Conrad and Carolyn Donohoe-Martens (Dale) of Conroy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mary Woodrum Rowcliffe, Earl Woodrum and Arthur and Meta Glandorf; parents-in-law, Jerry and Kathleen Donohoe; and brother-in-law, Tom Donohoe.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg, with Father Joseph Roost and Father Andrew Kelly concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Holbrook. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. A prayer service will be at 2 today. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
