Donnie P. Murphy, 64, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. A private inurnment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his sons, Greg (Carrie) Murphy of Center Point and Eugene Murphy of Robins; granddaughter, Aspen Murphy; siblings, Debbie Powers of Wisconsin, Danny (Wanda) Murphy of Texas, Dennis (Sharon) Murphy of Washington and Deanna (Brett) McAtee of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patty Murphy and Dana Herb; and a brother, Tim Murphy.
Donnie was born July 25, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Eugene and Judith Murphy. He graduated from Kennedy High School and worked around the Cedar Rapids area for many years. He was one child of three sets of twins that were born in a span of 27 months. Donnie was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 10 years and loved his sobriety and liked to help others with their sobriety. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Donnie’s family would like to especially thank the staff of Silver Oak Nursing & Rehab for the love and care that was given to Donnie.
