Donna L. Wagner, 66, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Donna's life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. A rosary and a prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, St. Mary's Parish in Oxford or to the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation in honor of her beloved dog, Lilly.
Donna was born July 25, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Organ) Gorvin. She was a 1966 graduate of Clear Creek High School and on March 27, 1971, she married Daryl Wagner. For more than 30 years, Donna and Daryl owned and operated the family farm near Oxford. Donna also enjoyed various part-time jobs throughout her life. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping and preparing home cooked meals for her family.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl of Iowa City; three children, Camille (Bryan) Pfeiff of Shawnee, Okla., Stacey (Chad) Kelly of North Liberty and Matthew Wagner (Cory Barnes) of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Benjamin and Bella Pfeiff, Maxwell and Isla Kelly and Calin Wagner; four sisters, Phyllis (Harlan) Frazer of Surprise, Ariz., Esther (Steve) Maxey of Iowa City, Norma (Bob) Jett of Iowa City and Betty (Dick) DeJong of Waxahachie, Texas; and three brothers, Ed (Marlene) Gorvin of Mahomet, Ill., Larry Gorvin of Oxford and Gene Gorvin of Coralville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Irene and Joe Gorvin; her grandparents, Margaret and William Organ and Mary and Edward Gorvin; a brother, William Gorvin; two sisters, Joyce Wray and Barbara Hain; a sister-in-law, Barbara Gorvin; and a brother-in-law, Jack Hain.
Daryl would like to extend a special thanks to Kathy, Cory and also to his fellow custodians at City High.
