Donna Lee Schimek, 83, of Marion, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Donna was born in Rock Falls, Iowa, on April 21, 1933, to Clarence and Lillian Cornell. She graduated from Decorah, Iowa, High School in 1951 and married Wayne Lines on June 1, 1951. Wayne's work took him several places in Iowa, ending up in Cedar Rapids in 1970. Wayne passed away in 2004. Donna married Charlie Schimek in 2012.

Donna was a homemaker until her children were all in school and worked for J.C. Penney and Iowa National Insurance and retired from Alliant Energy.

Donna enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and card games. She loved traveling. She liked watching her sons play sports, spending many summer afternoons watching baseball games.

Donna is survived by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Theresa Terhune; son, Todd (Tami) of Omaha; and daughter-in-law, Pam; four granddaughters, Randi of Des Moines, Shawnee of Marion, Erika Buffington (Cole) of Valley, Neb., and Emily of Omaha; and great-grandson, Hunter. She also is survived by her brother, Curtis Cornell (Marilyn) of Lake Mills; and many other relatives.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lillian Cornell; husband of 53 years, Wayne; and son, Roger.
