Donna Mae Merrick, 75, of Anamosa, went to heaven to join her beloved Richard on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Jones Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held Saturday, March 22, at Fawn Creek Condominium Club Room in Anamosa from 1 to 4 p.m. A private family burial will be held in Kentucky at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous in Mon-ticello.

Donna Merrick was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Horace "Bud" and Freda A. (Zimmerman) Soper. After graduating from Anamosa High School, she was united in marriage to Richard E. Merrick on June 16, 1956, in Anamosa. Donna's life revolved around her family and close friends.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time on the computer. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anamosa.
Donna is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Steve) Barney of Omaha, Neb., Mary (Terry) King of Shellsburg and Paula (Greg) Hart of Anamosa; grandchildren, Matt (Kimm) Stoll of Portland, Ore., Mary-Helen Glover of Omaha, Adam Glover of Portland, Ore., Jessica (Nick) Tumilty of Urbana, Brittany (Charlie) Martens of Cedar Rapids, Jason (Michelle) Hart of Port Barrington, Ill., and Derek Hart of San Francisco; five special stepgranddaughters; sisters, JoAnn (Keith) Sankot of Fairfax, Sheila (Denny) Wilson of Anamosa and Sharon (Cal) Wolfe of Kentucky; and half brothers, Bill, Bob and Larry Soper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; brother, Donald Soper; sisters, Betty Voelker and Kathy Coyle; son-in-law, Jeff Glover; and foster parents, Russ and Margaret Ellison.
We would like to thank the staff and doctors at Jones Regional Hospital and St. Luke's cardiologists for their wonderful care that gave us 30 more years with our momma.
Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts and have comfort knowing she is now in heaven with her true love.
