Donna May Welsh, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Aug. 4, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4330 St. Patrick's Dr., Iowa City, Iowa, with Father Joseph Sia officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Holbrook, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. A parish rosary will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Instead of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorials to Friends of Old St. Michael's or Iowa City Hospice.

Donna was born March 28, 1936, in Parnell, Iowa, to Clyde and Barbara (Tuttle) Jones. She graduated from Williamsburg High School before marrying Leo Welsh on May 4, 1957, in Kinross, Iowa. The couple eventually settled in Iowa City, where they raised their four children and enjoyed nearly 41 memorable years together before his death in 1998. Donna worked for the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for more than 15 years, retiring in 1995.

She was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City. She stayed busy with a variety of hobbies throughout her life, but nothing meant more to Donna than being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Dave (Joyce Ann) Welsh of Iowa City, Iowa; three daughters, Cathy (Lonnee) Burkholder of Iowa City, Iowa, Teresa Plotz (Mark) of Marengo, Iowa, and Marie Welsh (Scott Zitzow) of Conroy, Iowa; five grandchildren, Cory (LaRee), Josh (Michelle), Amber (Josh), Jamie (Scott) and Megan; four great-grandchildren, William, Oliver, Kai, and Kylie; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; and three brothers, DeWayne, Gene and Marion "Edwin" Jones.
