Donna Marie Jones, 65, of Iowa City, died unexpectedly at her home in Iowa City on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet guests from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Donna's family in care of Mike Jones.
Donna was born on Feb. 5, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Joanne Poggenpohl. For many years, Donna worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the department of anesthesia.
She loved spending time with her family, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching NASCAR.
Donna is survived by her son, Mike Jones (Missy Madsen); grandchildren, Andi Wolfe, Makayla Hoyt, Robert Jones, Jeremy Madsen and Alexander Madsen; siblings, Tim Schmitz (Shirley) of Oklahoma City, Tom Schmitz (Ilona) of Wylie, Texas, and Don Schmitz (Linda Gramm) of Iowa City; former husband, Bob Jones; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
