Donna Lee Mullenix passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, from the effects of Scleroderma. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. There will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Donna was born on April 21, 1951, to Richard Dale, and Lois (Coghlan) Harris, the oldest of six children. She married Steve Mullenix on December 5, 1980. Donna enjoyed cooking, and loved to fish. She made several quilts for her children and grandchildren, along with others that needed one, most notably the quilts that were made for the Cedar Rapids Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her quilts always had a reason to be, and a story to tell.
Donna worked at the A&W Root Beer stand, and Standard Appliance in her youth, then briefly at Iowa Manufacturing. She moved on to Cryovac in Cedar Rapids, where she remained for 29 years, until the plant closed down. Donna finished her career at the Abbe Center.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; her children, Milisa (Marco) DaSilva, Derrick (Christie) Mullenix, and Bret (Jessica) Mullenix; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, along with her brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a baby born in 1973.
She is our Sunshine.
