Donna L. Liscum, 82, of Marion, formerly of Renwick, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.
A memorial reception will be held Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at The Church on Northland, 5200 Northland Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The funeral services will be held at Renwick Baptist Church, Renwick, on Dec. 2 at 1 p.m., with a fellowship reception to follow.
Donna Lee Liscum was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Leola Nissen. She grew up in Renwick, Iowa, where she graduated high school and met her husband of 64 years, Larry.
Donna had many, many friends, calling all of them family. She and Larry loved spending time at the family cabin on Lake Bertha. Donna was active with the American Baptist Women, and was a great woman of faith, singing the praises of her Lord up until her last breath. Donna always made sure you were fed. Dishes such as pot roast, pies, applesauce, macaroni and cheese, and sausage and gravy were among her highlights.
Donna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry Liscum of Marion; son, Curtis (Deborah) of Marion; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Liscum of Hiawatha, Craig (Johanna) Liscum of Coggon, Tiffany (Matt) Kruthoff of Fort Dodge and Courtney (Jessica) Lockner of Callender; and 10 great-grandchildren, David, Mary, Kacey, Aliyah, Peyton, Ryder, Caitlyn, Carson, Harper and James. Also surviving are her brother, Richard (Wanda) Nissen of Hutchinson, Kan.; son-in-law, Mark Lockner of Fort Dodge; and many, many other relatives and friends whom she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Christine.
The family would like to thank Crestview Acres and UnityPoint Hospice.
