Donna Elaine Chamberlain, 93, of Central City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Virgina Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, where the family will greet friends beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Donna was born on February 25, 1932, in rural Benton County, the daughter of George and Esther (Bridge) Burkey. She was a graduate of Washington High School in Vinton. On July 27, 1952, Donna was united in marriage to Leslie L. Chamberlain in Vinton. Together they raised eight children. She then became a Salesclerk at JC Penny's in Cedar Rapids, where she took pride in making every customer feel welcomed. As her career evolved, she took on the role of apartment manager, until her retirement in 2004. Donna found great delight in feeding the birds and squirrels that visited her home. In her earlier years, she played bingo, was a member of a card club, and enjoyed doing puzzles. Donna will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Donna is survived and lovingly remembered by her six children, Michael Chamberlain of Shellsburg, Iowa, Danny (Judy) Chamberlain of Vinton, Kathy Chamberlain of Vinton, Janis Chamberlain of Vinton, Lori Chamberlain of Winthrop, Iowa, and Lisa (Bob) Benton of Winthrop; daughter-in-law, Kim Bekker of Lone Tree, Iowa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Chamberlain; two sons, Scott and Steven Chamberlain; grandson, Robb; great-grandson, Alex; six brothers; and three sisters.
