Donna Dolores Eilers, 84, passed away Saturday morning, April 19, 2014, in her home following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, May 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Lawrence room at the
Lawrence Center, Anamosa.
Donna Dolores Davidson was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Wyoming, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Norma (Norton) Davidson. Dolores attended the Anamosa Community Schools and then married Robert P. Eilers on Jan. 18, 1947, in Anamosa. Dolores was employed at Collins Radio until she retired in 1984. Then she began her many volunteer hours for the Anamosa Community Hospital until last year. In 1995, she was recognized for her dedication.
Dolores was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Antioch Club.
Dolores and Bob traveled extensively in retirement through many cruises and trips to Alaska and Australia. Between her passion for her volunteer work and her travels, she was known to enjoy her sewing machine, crafts and needle work, whether it was a sewing needle for cross stitch or a knitting needle for the many projects shared with her family, friends and charities.
Surviving are her husband, Bob; four children, John (Diann) Eilers and Phil (Kim) Eilers, both of Anamosa, Becky (Steve) Brown of Springville and Galen (Sue) Eilers of Janesville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cheryl Browne of Greeley, Colo., and Betty Colehour of Stone City; along with many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Paul Thomas; and her brother, Robert Davidson.
