Galena, Ill.
Donna E. Spurr, 83 of Galena, Ill., passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, at Galena Stauss Senior Care Community.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Galena, where friends may gather after 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Friends may gather from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.
Donna was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Stockton, Ill., the daughter of Dawson and Mae (West) Vincent. She married Robert F. Spurr on Sept. 29, 1956, and he preceded her in death on March 31, 2012. Donna worked for Rockwell International, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for many years until retiring in 1990. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Donna enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, and baking. She volunteered for the Galena Food Pantry, Galena Museum and the Midwest Medical Center Gift Shop. Donna was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Midwest Medical Center Fitness, Eastern Star and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Randy Spurr of Albuquerque, N.M., Machelle (Scot) Enright of Raymore, Mo., and Robbie (Marsha) Spurr of Cicero, Ind.; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clint Vincent, Kerry (Nancy) Vincent and Brad Vincent; four sisters, Beverley (Delbert) Kern, Cleo Lawrence, Linda Vincent and Sherry Martin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Debbie.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Galena Stauss Senior Care Community and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Kristin and Amy; your care and kindness will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Hospice of Dubuque or the Galena Foundation in memory of Donna.
