Donn William Boyse, 89, of Alburnett, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home. There will be no visitation held. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Lafayette Cemetery in rural Alburnett. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City is assisting the family.
Donn was born on July 7, 1931, at the family farm in rural Central City, Iowa, one of six children to Lee and Katherine (Watson) Boyse. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953. On Dec. 23, 1954, Donn was united in marriage to Dixie Lee Martin. In his earlier years, he drove truck for Lee Boyse Livestock Market. He then went on to work for Iowa Milling, and worked nearly 44 years for Iowa Manufacturing until his retirement. Donn was an avid bowler and loved tractor pulls, especially The Good Ole' Boys Truck & Tractor Pull. He loved socializing with everyone and sharing his jokes. Donn especially loved his family and going to all sporting events that his grandchildren participated in. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donn is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Dixie Boyse; two daughters, Debra (Randy) Sweet and Marcia Boyse (Greg Arendsee); daughter-in-law, Sandy Boyse; four granddaughters, Hilary (TJ) West, Katie Sweet, Trisha (Shane) Leahy and Marcie (Steve) Schoen; two grandsons, Lee (Kaitlin) Boyse and Easton Beshears; nine great-grandchildren, Daniel, Braylon and Cruz Freeze, Victoria and Lachlan Leahy, Cecilia and Martin James Boyse, and Adeline and Emerson Schoen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Katherine Boyse; son, Martin Boyse; three brothers, Nyal (Elva) Boyse, Keith (Ruth) Boyse and Kenneth (Joan) Boyse; and two sisters, Shirley Boyse Wear and Patricia Lee McRae.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Donn's memory may be made to the Alburnett Fire Department or to the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight at P.O. Box 10704, Cedar Rapids, IA 52410.
