Donald E. Mosier, 65, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Jan. 28, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite Consistory, 616 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402. The Rev. Timothy D. Bonney will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, also at the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite Consistory, with a masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. by Grand Master William W. Post.
Burial will take place immediately following the services at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; his daughters, Carissa Gillmore and husband Lucas of Tiffin, Iowa, and Danielle Mosier of Cedar Rapids; and his grandchildren, Keegan, Gavin, Rowan and Georgia Gillmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Don was born on July 29, 1956, in Huron, S.D., to Earl and Pearl (Sorenson) Mosier. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering) from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1978. Don joined Rockwell Collins immediately after graduation, serving almost 44 years at the company. He was united in marriage to Carol (Hunt) Mosier on May 16, 1981, in Earlville, Iowa.
Don was a member of many masonic organizations where he held leadership roles that included: Kingston and Albert Pike Masonic Lodges; Iowa Grand Lodge, serving as the Grand Master of Iowa 2007-2008; York Rite- Chapter, Council, Commandery, and was the Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Iowa; Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite where he was coroneted with the 33rd degree and currently serving as the Personal Representative to the SGIG of Iowa; El Kahir Shrine where he belonged to the Directors Staff, and was a Chairman of the Endowment Fund; Royal Order of Jesters, Order of Quetzalcoatl; and many other masonic affiliated organizations. His dedication to Masonry was exemplary in his involvement and attendance at these many Masonic bodies and their events.
Don enjoyed reading, cooking- especially perfecting and trying new recipes, baking birthday cakes for his grandchildren, traveling with Carol, riding his Harley and driving his Corvette. Don's greatest enjoyment in life was time spent with his family who dearly miss him.
