Donlad Edward 'Skipp' Killen
DONALD EDWARD "SKIPP" KILLEN
Hot Springs, Ark.
Donald Edward "Skipp" Killen passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2021, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born in Albert Lea, Minn., on May 20, 1929, and married Audrey Elaine Killen on Aug. 17, 1957. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1949 and served in Korea through 1952. Skipp attended the University of Iowa and was
on the university's wrestling team.
Following college, Skipp began his career as an insurance agent specializing in casualty and property lines with the Insurance Company of North America in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1965, he became the marketing manager for the State of Nebraska. In 1971, Skipp and his family moved to Lincoln, Neb., where he became a partner in a local insurance agency and was appointed president in 1981.
Upon retirement, Skipp and Elaine moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where he worked at the Ponce de Leon Golf Club for a number of years as a course marshal.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, David and Kimberly Killen of Blanco, Texas; and grandsons, Jack Killen of Houston, Texas, and Mark Killen of Fort Worth, Texas.
Skipp will be remembered by his family and friends as a giving man, a friend to all, a devoted Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, long-time volunteer to competitive swimming and an avid fisherman.
