Donels, Yvonne D.

Yvonne D. Donels, 66, of Manchester, died at her home Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Community Congregational Church in Manchester, by the Rev. Kurt Pasko. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Manchester and one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Yvonne was born Aug. 27, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Eunice (Lund) Colvin. In 1965, she graduated from West High School in Waterloo and then attended UNI receiving her teaching certification and her Masters in Computer Science. Yvonne taught at Edison Junior High and Grant Elementary in Waterloo and later worked at John Deere.

Yvonne was married to Jim DeWald in 1967. To this union was born a son, Doug. The couple later divorced. On Feb. 14, 1997, Yvonne was united to Dwayne Donels in Hawaii.

Yvonne was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Manchester, owned and operated Total Fitness health club in 1980s and taught Jazzercise and competed in body building competitions.

Yvonne was very proud and supportive of her son, Doug. She was a very caring teacher. Yvonne enjoyed dancing, campfires with the neighbors, watching movies and going for walks.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Dwayne Donels of Manchester; one son, Doug (Karin) DeWald of Normal, Ill.; three stepchildren, Robert (Karen) Donels of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rick (Dawn) Donels of Center Point and Toshia (Larry) Isaac of Surprise, Ariz.; 10 stepgrandchildren, Ashley, Letitia, Jessica, Cara, Zach, Nicholas, Dacia, Amara, Malik and Zack; a stepbrother, Steve; and two stepsisters, Linda and Julie.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother, Eunice; and her father and stepmother, Earl and Vivian Colvin.
