Donegan, Nona W.
Nona W. Donegan, 83, of Prairieburg, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Wayne Droessler will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where there will be a rosary recited to start the visitation.
Survivors include a son, Frederick (Donna) of Englewood, Colo.; two daughters, Nita Edgington of Cedar Rapids and Donna Mae Barrows of Prairieburg; one sister, Merla Russell of Marion; two brothers, Manly LeClere of Cedar Rapids and Nelson (Mary Lorraine) of Prairieburg; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Larry; sister, Merna; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Nona was born April 8, 1927, in Hopkinton, the daughter of Neil and Minerva (Ratcliff) Minehart. She married Donald F. Donegan on Jan. 8, 1950, in Coggon. He died in 1998. Nona was a beautician and later worked at LeFebure, retiring from there after more than 25 years of service.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, the Altar and Rosary Society and did volunteer work at the Senior Citizens Center in La Hoya, Texas, where they wintered. Nona enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, playing cards, dancing, travel and especially the time she spent with her beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established.
