Donald E. Williamson, 78, of Atkins, formerly of Hartwick, passed away Dec. 21, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a short illness. He was previously hospitalized in October, followed by a two-month stay at West Ridge Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Pastor Tim Dyck will preside. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.
Donald Eugene Williamson was born March 6, 1936, to Ronald N. and Mabel Marie Roudabush Williamson at Hartwick, where he attended school. After school he joined the Air Force, serving four years while stationed in Wyoming, Alaska and Illinois. He married Elaine Cronbaugh on Sept. 14, 1957, at Belle Plaine. They moved to Atkins in 1963 where they resided for 51 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elaine; children, Greg (Denice) of Clarksville, Tenn., Karen (Todd) Holst of McKinney, Texas, John (Samantha) of Wylie, Texas, Denise (Rick) Andresen of Keystone, Dennis (Sheila) of Poetry, Texas, and Jason (Sarah) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jill, Nick, Megan, Adam, Jacob, Rachelle, Jena, Brandon, Holly, Paige and Brooke; and by 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Criswell of Newton and Linda Davis of Victor; and by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Everett Williamson and Mary Ann Roth.
Donald served 11 years as a volunteer fireman in Atkins. His enjoyment was family, gardening, camping, traveling with Elaine and watching TV.
