Donald E. Webster, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John Howerton. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Dennis and Donald, both of Cedar Rapids; three grand-children, Carrie Ford, Donald Webster Jr. and Stephanie (Ray) Fritz; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Westcott; brother-in-law, Robert Millage; and his dog, Benny.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin Webster, Lorretta Webster, Irene Franks, Jessie Franks, Velma Morarie, Leonard Webster, Eugene Webster, Lyle Webster, Leland Webster, Isabelle Giovazzi, Mary Jane Millage and Joyce Ray.
Donald was born July 27, 1936, the son of Leslie and Mabel (Wenger) Webster, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On May 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Varner in Rock Island, Ill. Donald worked as a welder for Cedarapids Inc., retiring after 36 years of service.
He was a member of the Machinists Union.
Donald enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports, especially football. He also enjoyed camping and CB radio, using his handle of Weekend Lover. Donald loved being a sneaky guy and telling jokes.
