Donald “Trucker” Mastin, 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2021, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Cedar Memorial Park
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Saturday, May 8, at 9 a.m. A private family graveside will follow. A livestream of the funeral may be accessed on the funeral home website under obituary for Donald “Don” Mastin, under the video tab on Saturday, May 8, at 9 a.m.
Following the continued proclamations issued by the Governor, physical distancing must be practiced, which may require a limited number of people allowed into a visitation at one time and limited seating available at services. The use of facial coverings is strongly encouraged.
Don was born May 5, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Albert and Wava (Buckwheat) Mastin Jr. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1969, doing four tours in Vietnam as a Boatswain, landing some of the first troops on shore. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, his faithful dog Buddie, and riding his Harley’s. Don was married to Lahoma Cook and while divorcing years later, remained close friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his children, Travis (Cheryl) Mastin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Blaine (Valerie) Mastin of Palo, Iowa, Tracy (Matthew) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kasey Mastin of Kingsport, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jamie Mastin, Cameron Waggoner, Kelli Emig, Shelli Emig, Dalton Mastin, Colten Mastin, Tanner Mastin and Keegan Mastin; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean; and wife, Lahoma Cook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for donation to his favorite charity.
