Donald "Trucker" Mastin, 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2021, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral may be accessed on the funeral home website under obituary for Donald "Don" Mastin, under the video tab, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 8.
Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required.
Don was born May 5, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Albert and Wava (Buckwheat) Mastin Jr. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1969, doing four tours in Vietnam as a boatswain, landing some of the troops on shore. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, his faithful dog Buddie, and riding his Harleys. Don was married to Lahoma Cook and while divorcing years later, they remained close friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his children, Travis (Cheryl) Mastin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Blaine (Valerie) Mastin of Palo, Iowa, Tracy (Matthew) Schroeder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kasey Mastin of Kingsport, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jamie Mastin, Cameron Waggoner, Kelli Emig, Shelli Emig, Dalton Mastin, Colten Mastin, Tanner Mastin, Keegan Mastin; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean; and wife, Lahoma Cook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for donation to his favorite charity.
