Donald A. Stevens, 89, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:00 am at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, to follow the services.
Donald was born on August 6, 1934, to Ben and Florence (Minnaert) Stevens in Ladora, Iowa. Donald grew up on the family farm in Marengo, Iowa. He graduated from Conroy High School. Don proudly served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He was stationed in Hawaii during that time. He was united in marriage to Janet Carstensen on September 2, 1961, in Marengo. They made their home in Cedar Rapids.
Don retired from Dale Lee Distributing after 37 years of dedicated service. He loved playing a good round of Euchre, visiting casinos, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janet; 3 children, Randy (Amy) Stevens, Carrie Anderson, and Janell Kenney all of Cedar Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Drew (Hannah) Stevens; Claire Stevens; Nolan (Brianna) Anderson; Rosalyn Anderson; twins, Miles (Kit) Kenney and Connor Kenney; 5 great grandchildren, Royce; twins, Ezra and Juniper; Ivan and Parker; his sisters, Marcella, Loretta, Mary, and Bev; 12 nephews, 13 nieces, and extended loving family members.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Leroy, Dave, Vern, Gary, Tom, and Bernie; and his sisters, Pat and Janet.
